About the Competition

Empowering Tomorrow's Cyber Defenders

Flight Path is a summer cybersecurity challenge hosted by the Air & Space Forces Association
in partnership with ĀYŌDÈ, designed to inspire and challenge the next generation.

A Competition That Matters

The competition blends Capture the Flag puzzles with coding challenges, providing students with both self-paced practice opportunities and high-pressure timed competitions. Teams of six collaborate to solve real-world problems and develop essential skills.

Scheduled for early August 2026, Flight Path gives students time to prepare before the CyberPatriot season begins, while avoiding conflicts with the school year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate in Flight Path?
Flight Path is open to high school students (grades 9–12) across the United States. Teams consist of up to six students, with an optional adult coach or teacher serving as a sponsor.
What does the competition format look like?
The format combines Capture the Flag puzzles with coding challenges. Students get access to self-paced practice problems before competing in timed events with real-time scoring.
Why is the competition scheduled for August?
The event takes place in early August 2026 to give students time to prepare before the CyberPatriot season begins. This timing also avoids conflicts with the school year while ensuring students have the summer months to learn fundamentals and build their teams.
Do students need prior experience?
No prior experience is required. Flight Path is designed for beginners and advanced students alike, with challenges that scale in difficulty to accommodate all skill levels.
What skills will students gain?
Students will develop problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, computer science basics (loops, debugging, algorithms), and core cybersecurity concepts including encryption, forensics, and Linux commands.
